At Orchard School, we believe that each day of a child’s education is very important and we don’t want them to miss out. We therefore request parents to make sure that their children attend every day (unless they are unwell).
We set very high expectations of attendance for all pupils. Our overall attendance target for the 2017 / 2018 academic year is to achieve 96% and above.
Our past attendance records have been outstanding. We achieved an overall attendance of 96.3% for the 2016 / 2017 academic year and 97.1% for the 2015 / 2016 academic year!
Thank you to all our pupils and parents for continuing to work in partnership with the school, to keep our attendance at a high level.
Please note that due to recent changes in legislation, headteachers are not permitted to authorise any absence during term time. Requests for leave will not be authorised by the headteacher, during term times unless there are very special circumstances. If a child is absent due to illness, the parents/carers must contact the school as soon as possible on the first day of absence or inform us with a written note confirming the reason for the absence. All subsequent days of absence are thereafter followed up by our attendance officer, Mr Nicholas Roberts.
It is also very important that all pupils arrive to school on time. If a pupil is going to be late, they need to come to school via the office to make sure their name is entered into the Late Book. In this way, we know that they are on the premises, which is important for Health & Safety reasons. Any Unauthorised absences and persistent lateness are taken very seriously at The Orchard Primary School. Kindly refer to our Attendance and Punctuality Policy (Orchard Attendance and Punctuality Policy) or speak to our attendance officer at the school office, should you require any further information.
