Some of the wonderful learning experiences we had included:
Drama Project – Autumn Term
Year 5 performed a play based on ‘Sedako and the 1000 Cranes’ which focusses on the message of ‘Peace’. We worked on a programme together with the drama teacher from City Heights E-ACT Academy to prepare for this wonderful performance. Our teacher and teaching assistants also helped us to prepare for this performance. It all culminated in an evening performance at City Heights which was attended by over a hundred parents! On the evening, we were joined by pupils from four other local schools, including Christchurch CoE School and Saint Luke’s, as they were also taking part. An enjoyable time was had by all!
Visit to Nightingale Care Home
Year 5 pupils visited Nightingale where they interacted with the elderly residents and had a tour of the synagogue. Alison Hatt (Governor) accompanied the group. Click on the link below to read her summary of the visit.
They presented the home with a £100 cheque to go towards hip supports. Orchard received a letter of thanks from Helen Spiro (Volunteers and Development Manager). Click on the link below to read it.
Year 5 Art Project
The class are taking part in an art competition (Fourth Plinth Schools Award 2013) being run by the Mayor of London’s office. The children are producing works of art for this competition; designs for the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square in the centre of London.
